The Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber and sister chamber, the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce are launching a "Buy Nassau" initiative and contest on March 1, 2009.

What's Buy Nassau?  It's an initiative to encourage Nassau County, Florida residents to buy locally. The Chambers are kicking off the effort with an eight-week contest.

From March 1 to April 23, 2009 local residents bring receipts from ANY business in Nassau County, Florida to either Chamber, BB&T, First Federal Bank or VyStar Credit Union in Fernandina Beach, or Community First Credit Union in Yulee.

For each receipt of $5 or more, Nassau County, Florida residents will receive a ticket entering them into a weekly drawing. If residents bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Barnabas Center, they'll get an extra ticket.

Every Friday at 3 p.m., the winning numbers will be posted at www.buynassaucounty.com.  The winners will receive prizes donated by members of both Chambers.

It's not too late to participate and to promote local businesses while encouraging Nassau County residents to think before they shop, and shop where they live.
