The 45th annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival (May 2-4, 2008) will attract around 150,000 people to Amelia Island, Florida. New festivals continue to be developed on Amelia Island to enhance local living as well as this barrier island's allure for tourists. Intellectually stimulating events, combined with the beautiful and historic setting of this resort island in northeast Florida, help to attract a diverse mix of tourists and residents. In 2008, the Amelia Island Film Festival is to debut (submissions are being accepted from film makers, including independents and student film makers, through May 3rd). During the past decade, several new festivals have become annual events on Amelia Island.
