Your new BEACH body can be splashing in the waves before summer’s end, and shedding pounds usually makes one feel great!
Breakfast
The “B” in B.E.A.C.H. is for eating breakfast soon after you wake up. Get your metabolism going! Don’t forget the fiber.
Eliminate Simple Carbs
The “E” in B.E.A.C.H.: eliminate foods containing simple carbs. (For example, white rice, white potatoes and breads, pastas, cereals cookies, cakes, crackers, pastries, muffins, i.e. foods made with refined white flour and sugar.) Also cut wet carbs such as soda, fruit drinks, juices sports/energy drinks and booze.

Exercise Just About Every Day
The “E” also stands for getting exercise to burn calories, six days a week, if possible. Get yourself moving. Walk, ride a bike, take stairs instead of the elevator, try yoga or pilates. Track your steps with a pedometer and set a goal of 10,000 steps a day.
Add Antioxidants to Your Plate
The “A” in B.E.A.C.H. is for antioxidants. Consume more fruits and vegetables, and it’s a great time to get in season produce (the good carbs). Check out your regional Farmer’s Market (every Saturday here on Amelia Island is the Fernandina Farmer’s Market downtown 9am-1pm.) The Oz website suggests four foods that are chock full of nutrients but low cal: eat apricots, cucumbers, okra, and peaches. (There are plenty of Georgia peaches around the Amelia Island area).
Indulge in Dark Chocolate
The “C” in B.E.A.C.H is Chocolate….yeahhhhhhhh! Stick with 70% cacao, and don’t over indulge.
Hydration
The “H” in B.E.A.C.H. is for hydration. It‘s always wise to drink lots of liquids during hot summer weather. Also try having a drink when you’re hungry (instead of a snack). Naturally, water is the best choice.
