Sounds on Centre (August 6, September 3)
Free community concerts held the first Friday evening of each month (from March through October) in historic downtown Fernandina Beach on Centre Street between 2nd and Front from 6 to 8 p.m.  Be sure to bring a chair, your dancing shoes and a smile to enjoy these free concert events presented by the Historic Fernandina Business Association. Centre Street is closed off to vehicular traffic from 2nd Street down to the riverfront and there’s literally “dancing in the street.”

SunSplash at Seaside Park, Summer Concert Series August 7, September 4
Seaside beach park in Fernandina Beach is the place to be for some island tunes this summer on the first Saturday each month. SUNSPLASH, a new, free beach concert series and a whole lot more, is happening the summer of 2010. SUN SPLASH features free, live reggae music and activities like beach volleyball, petanque, and ping-pong. Also, kids’ sand castle building contest, surfing contest (Eastern Surfing Association) and a swimwear fashion show

takes place right at the beach. Upcoming Amelia Island SUN SPLASH Saturdays are August 7 and September 4th, 2010. Live reggae music will be performed on the beach from around 1 pm to 6 pm at Seaside Park (near Sliders). Vehicular beach access will be closed for these beach concert events. PARKING FOR SUN SPLASH: Free parking at K-Mart, 1525 Sadler Road, then ride the SunSplash tram for $1 (per person, each way.)

Union Garrison at Fort Clinch State Park first weekend every month. August 7-8, September 4-5
Living history interpreters recreate life at Fort Clinch during the War between the States. Held the first weekend of every month, these events give visitors a glimpse into the daily lives of the soldiers during the Civil War.  Activities may include powder artillery demonstrations, medical demonstrations and soldier

Artrageous Artwalks (Every second Saturday of each month). August 14, September 11
Amelia Island holds its Artrageous Artwalk every month on the second Saturday evening.  Eleven area galleries display a diverse selection of art, including acrylics, copper, metals, photography, pottery, stained glass, watercolors and much more.  Visitors can wander through galleries in the historic downtown district of Fernandina Beach. 3rd on 3rd at Amelia Island Museum of History (August 20, September 17)
On the third Friday of every month, the Amelia Island Museum of History offers a special presentation about the intriguing history of the island.  Events take place at 5:30 p.m. at Baker Hall in the museum.  Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members.  Visit www.ameliamuseum.org for additional information about the museum.

Postmortem (August 12 -28)

Great Southern Tailgate Cook-off (August 27-28)
More than 30 cooking teams from across the country will compete at Main Beach Park in Fernandina Beach, Florida for up to $20,000 in cash and prizes.
