Long green trails veil the dunes, accented with purple splashes of color. Wild beach morning glories (also called railroad vine) are blooming in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Pictured here are the wild flowers located just off the oceanfront porch at Sandy Bottoms, the bar/restaurant at Main Beach Park (South Fletcher and Atlantic Avenue). This vine reportedly helps to stabilize dunes (and looks pretty, too).
A big event is happening here at Main Beach Park this coming weekend, the Great Southern Tailgate Cook-off (August 27-28, 2010). Imagine the mouth-watering aroma of BBQ that will be wafting on the sea breeze from at least 30 professional cooking teams, as grills sizzle at the seashore on Amelia Island, Florida. It’s also pleasant picture, and you can be in it.
Besides food, the beach cook-off will also feature six live bands playing oceanfront throughout the two day event. Read more about the cook-off.
