Like art? Every second Saturday, Amelia Island holds self-guided art gallery tours. Visitors can spend a Saturday evening wandering through galleries in Fernandina Beach from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m, held each month on the second Saturday night.

Amelia Island has an artist colony to enrich and color our lives. With about a dozen art galleries (resident artists as well as transient artists who pass through to capture local coastal beauty), there are plenty of folks with an appreciation of art milling about this northeast Florida barrier island.

Amelia Island art galleries located in the historic district of Fernandina Beach participate in the Artrageous Artwalks, displaying a diverse selection of art including acrylics, copper, metals, photography, pottery, stained glass, watercolors and more.

Go at your own pace, meet and mingle with the artists behind the work and other art lovers.

The Amelia Island Art Association (www.islandart.org), featuring the work of over 100 artists, is one of the participating galleries located at 18 N. Second Street (just off Centre Street) in Fernandina’s historic district.

Pictured is the welcoming painted doorway of the “Blue Door Artists” gallery at 205 1/2 Centre Street, www.bluedoorartists.com, another participant (a collective of artists).
