Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Holiday Events 2011

Throughout the holiday season, Amelia Island’s largest resort, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation (904)261-6161, offers a variety of festive events. From an annual tree lighting celebration, horse-drawn carriage rides, Santa’s workshop, wine tastings, cookie decorating, cooking demonstrations, holiday dining options and more, take a look at some of the highlights below.

Thanksgiving Events 2011 at Omni Amelia Island Plantation

November 24, 2011 — Annual Turkey Trot 5K and one mile “Youth Fun Run.” Race, run or walk (8 and 9 a.m. start times) at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Racquet Park parking lot (located next to the Verandah). Awards will be given to the top three male and female winners in each age category (no animals, bicycles, or strollers on the race course). Entry fee $25 adults, $15 kids (12 and under). Thanksgiving Holiday Buffet at Verandah restaurant, November 24, 2011 – 12 to 7 p.m. $48 per adult, $19 for kids 12 and under (tax and gratuities not included, reservations are required, call 904-321-5050).

November 25, 2011 — The Omni Amelia Island Plantation will host their Annual Holiday Charity Celebration at The Spa & Shops from 5 to 8 pm. This festive event features live entertainment, horse and carriage rides, train rides, stilt walkers, pictures with Santa Claus, and the lighting of their 35-foot Christmas. This wonderful celebration offers hot chocolate, apple cider, cookies, beer and wine. Entry is free. Tickets to enjoy rides, crafts, or food and beverage are $2 each and can be purchased in Harrison’s Mercantile, Resort to Home or the Signature Shop (children under 5 are free). Ticket proceeds to benefit Take Stock in Children. Watch a short You Tube clip by the resort featuring the Christmas tree lighting (a scene from last year’s event).

December 25, 2011 – Christmas Day Holiday Buffet in the Verandah restaurant, 12 to 4 p.m. $48 per adult, $19 per child 12 and under (tax and gratuities not included, reservations required, 904-321-5050). An evening meal at the Verandah will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m., a special four-course menu at $45 pp, $15.99 kid’s menu.

December 31, 2011 – New Year’s Eve — Call the resort at 904-261-6161 for details, pricing, and reservations for dining options and celebrations on New Year’s Eve at the Verandah, Falcon’s Nest, and Ocean Grill.
