Plant Clinics – May 4 & 18, 2015

Becky Jordi, County Extension Director/Horticulture Extension Agent will conduct a Plant Clinic from 10 am until 2 pm at the Yulee Extension Office (A1A and Pages Dairy Road). All Nassau County, Florida residents are invited to bring plant samples showing problems in their landscapes. Problems will be identified and solutions offered for correction. Landscape Matters Class on Snakes — May 6, 2015

Becky Jordi, County Extension Director/Horticulture Agent, will conduct a Landscape Matters class on snakes at 10 am. The session will take place at the Yulee Extension office on Pages Dairy Road. Ms. Jordi will discuss how to identify harmless vs. poisonous snakes – and what to do if bitten by a snake. Class is free and open to the public. Landscape Matters Class on Palms — May 14, 2015

Ms. Jordi will conduct a Landscape Matters class on palms at 10 am. The class will be conducted at the Palm Demonstration Garden, James S. Page Governmental Complex, Nassau Place in Yulee. Topics include the general biology of palms, cold hardy varieties, planting and fertilization; common palm diseases and nutrient deficiencies; outdoor demonstration of proper pruning and fruit stalk removal; and staking. Landscape Matters Class on Florida-Friendly Landscaping — May 20, 2015

On May 20 at 10 am, Master Gardener Ginny Grupe will conduct a Landscape Matters class on Florida-Friendly Landscaping®. The session will take place at the Yulee Extension office. Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) means using low-maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices. Learn how you can have a beautiful landscape that could save you time, energy and money while protecting our future. The class will provide information to homeowners about the nine FFL principles and how to apply them in the home landscape. Some of those principles include micro-irrigation, mulch, right plant right place, proper pruning and fertilization. Bi-Annual Plant Sale — May 30, 2015

County Master Gardeners will conduct their bi-annual plant sale on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 9 am until noon. Plants that have been propagated by Master Gardeners will be on sale. It will take place at the James S. Page Governmental Complex, rain or shine (come early for best selection).
