New Homeowners: Learn About Local Gardening

On two Saturdays, February 13 & 20, 2016, Nassau County Extension Director/Horticulture Agent, Rebecca Jordi, will conduct a two-day seminar, “Crash Course in North Florida Gardening” for homeowners new to local gardening. The topics include: proper landscape practices, and trees/plants for the Northeast Florida area. Classes are 8 am until noon, at the Nassau County Extension office in Yulee.

Attendance is limited to 30 people. Cost is $50 per person/$75 per couple by Friday, Feb 5, 2016 deadline. Late registration fees: $75/person $100/couple.

Landscape Matters – Roses (Free Class)

On February 3 from 10 am until 11 am, Nassau County Master Gardener Carol Ann Atwood will conduct a hands-on Landscape Matters Rose class beginning in the conference room of the James S. Page Government Center. The class will include a pruning demonstration, and discussion of diseases, remedies, irrigation, varieties, colors, fertilizers, arrangements, when to cut for arrangements, conditions for success, different grades, knock outs vs Hybrid teas, how to plant, and soil amendments. Landscape Matters – Pruning Landscape Trees (Free Class)

On Feb 17, 2016, Nassau County Extension Director/Nassau County Horticulture Agent, Rebecca Jordi and Master Gardener Bea Walker will conduct a Landscape Matters class on pruning trees and shrubs in your landscape. Nassau County Plant Clinics (FREE)

On Feb 1 and Feb 8, 2016 from 10 am until 2 pm, Rebecca Jordi, Extension Director/Horticulture Agent will conduct Plant Clinics. All Nassau County residents are invited to bring plant samples showing problems in their landscapes. Problems will be identified and solutions offered for correction.
