FREE KIDS’ FISHING CLINIC AT FORT CLINCH STATE PARK, AMELIA ISLAND, FLORIDA

Every year a fun fishing event (also an educational experience), is available for kids aged 4 to 16 at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach. This year the Kids’ Fishing Clinic is Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 9 am to 1 pm. A joint effort of Fort Clinch State Park, the Friends of Fort Clinch, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, this Kids’ Fishing Clinic aims to teach lessons about tying knots, fishing ethics, tackle, habitat, casting and more.

The free fishing clinic (also free for accompanying adults), takes place on the half-mile long fishing pier at the state park. Also, 500 kids will take home their own rod and reel combo, a free gift. Plus, a complimentary hot dog lunch is provided to every participant. What a nice way to spend some time outdoors with the family and learn about saltwater fishing, not to mention the freebies.
