Of all the cities in the state, only five percent (or one out of 20) raised its property tax rate this year and also borrowed a significant amount of money. This is a dubious distinction.

New signs decorated the storefront windows of two businesses on Centre Street in Fernandina Beach this past week. Fernandina General Store and Indigo Alley are two historic Centre Street businesses that have closed. Many small businesses are struggling to stay alive right now.
