October 3, 2014 Landscape Matters Class

Register by September 24, 2014 for a free “Pollinators” class being held on October 3, 2014. Rebecca Jordi, Nassau County Extension Director and Horticulture Agent will conduct a session on the importance of pollinators in your garden from 10 am until 11:30 am at the Yulee office (A1A and Pages Dairy Road). Learn different kinds of pollination and the primary pollinators: butterflies, beetles and bees. You will also learn how to attract Mason bees. The session is free.

Do-It-Yourself: Make & Take Bee Houses

At the October 3rd Landscape Matters, you have option to also “make & take” bee houses for your yard, at a cost of $10 for supplies. You will make one “bean can” bee house and one “wood hotel” bee house. Download the registration via Landscape Matters online. The completed form and your check for the (optional) bee house project can be dropped off at either the Callahan Extension office or the Yulee Extension office (letter drop available). Nassau County Extension Bi-Annual Plant Sale

October 11, 2014

Nassau County Master Gardeners will conduct their bi-annual plant sale on Saturday, October 11, from 9 am until 12 noon. Plants that have been propagated by Master Gardeners will be on sale. It will take place at the UF/IFAS Nassau County Demonstration Garden at the James S. Page Governmental Complex in Yulee, rain or shine. Come early for best selection. October 6 & 20, 2014 Plant Clinics

Rebecca Jordi, County Extension Director and Horticulture Extension Agent will conduct a Plant Clinic from 10 am until 2 pm at the Yulee Extension office (A1A and Pages Dairy Road). All Nassau County residents are invited to bring plant samples showing problems in their landscapes. Problems will be identified and solutions offered for correction. There is no fee for this service.
