June 1 & 15, 2015 – Plant Clinics

Becky Jordi, Nassau County Extension Director/Horticulture Extension Agent will conduct a Plant Clinic from 10 am until 2 pm at the Yulee Extension Office (A1A and Pages Dairy Road). All Nassau County, Florida residents are invited to bring plant samples showing problems in their landscapes. Problems will be identified and solutions offered for correction (there is no fee for this service). For information call 904-530-6350.

June 4, 2015 — Troubleshooting Lawn Problems

UF/IFAS Nassau County Extension Landscape Matters Class

Beginning at 10:00 am, Master Gardener, Nelson Peterson, will conduct a Landscape Matters class on troubleshooting problems that are obstacles to a healthy lawn. The session will take place at the UF/IFAS Nassau County Yulee Extension office. Nelson will discuss varieties of turf and considerations in selecting the best grass for your landscape and lawn maintenance practices. Also discussed will be the weeds that appear in our turf and proper response and treatment. This class is free and open to the public. July 1, 2015 — Are Bats Beneficial?

UF/IFAS Nassau County Extension Landscape Matters Class

NOTE: Registration is required by June 24th. Karl Shaffer and Cindy Steighner, Nassau County Master Gardeners, will conduct a session on the benefits of bats in our environment on July 1, 2015 from 10 am – 11:30 am. Learn common bats species in northeast Florida, the benefits offered by having bats in the environment and how to attract bats to your yard. The session is free, however if you’d like to “make & take” a bat house, the cost is $20 for supplies. Download the registration form at Completed form and check for the optional bat house project can be dropped off at either the Callahan Extension office or the Yulee Extension office (letter drop available).
