Foodies may like to partake in an upcoming event, a competition of local top chefs (divided into two teams). Hosted by The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, it’s downtown Fernandina chefs vs. Amelia Island’s southend resort-area chefs. This culinary event will benefit a local non-profit, the Barnabas Center, “helping neighbors in crisis” in Nassau County, FL. The event for 2017 has been scheduled, so mark your calendars! The upcoming event date is September 14, 2017.

2016’s teams and event format are noted below. (Further info on 2017’s event to be announced).

Team Fernandina

“Team Fernandina” will feature 29 South’s Scotty Schwartz, Burlingame’s Chad Livingston, and Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen’s Kenny Gilbert.

Team Beaches

Representing the southend, “Team Beaches” is Omni’s Daven Wardynski, Daniel Iammarino of BarZin , and The Ritz-Carlton’s Niko Anagnostou (of “Coast”, a new restaurant that opened at the Ritz for seafood lovers.)

Guests attending will vote on each course, submit ballots, with the final arbiter a panel of judges. Great Chefs of Amelia event tickets were priced at $110 per person last year and were available online.
