As we celebrate both Earth Day and Arbor Day this week, the timing seems perfect to feature a local conservation collaboration, the Amelia Island Conservation Network (AICN).
Just north and south of Amelia Island near the Florida-Georgia border are exceptional National Parks to visit. Cumberland Island and the Timucuan Ecological Historic Preserve.
Florida’s tallest sand dune is preserved on Amelia Island. The story of American Beach, a dune called Nana, and “the Beach Lady” who helped preserve the area will be told by the American Beach Museum. Celebrating its Grand Opening September 6, 2014, visitors can learn more about this historic African-American community.
