The Fernandina Beach Marina and public boat ramp downtown closed to mariners in late November 2018. See photo gallery of marina work underway.
The time has come to hand off the marina to the private sector – either in an outright sale or in a public/private partnership.
It took FEMA a year, but the city government of Fernandina Beach has finally been notified in writing. FEMA reportedly will cover 75% of costs to fix damage inflicted by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.
For those who love the water, Fernandina Beach is a mariner’s paradise with adjoining local waterways — the Amelia River/intracoastal, Cumberland Sound and Atlantic Ocean (plus Egans Creek within the island).
