Marine archaeologists returned to search mode this summer in the seas off Amelia Island, searching for a Spanish shipwreck, the San Miguel.
This documentary-style, “Editor’s Pick” video about Fernandina’s shrimping history features aerial views of Amelia Island with interesting interviews plus vintage images and old film footage.
The Wild Amelia Nature Festival features a sea turtle release at Fernandina’s Main Beach. The centerpiece event is the Eco-Expo at Rec Center. Plus fun eco tours at various venues including Egans Greenway, boat cruises on the river, and kayaking adventures.
This year’s Shrimp Festival Parade is Thursday, May 2, 2019, starting at 6 pm in downtown Fernandina Beach. The parade’s 2019 theme is “Rock N Roll Shrimp.”
